Nominations are sought for individuals at The Pennsylvania State University community who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in the areas of research, teaching, and/or academic course work; should preferably acknowledge meritorious faculty, staff and students whose academic achievements are LGBTQ-focused; but could also acknowledge the achievements of LGBTQ people in any area of research, teaching and student scholastic engagement. Self-nominations are accepted.

We are particularly interested in funding grants to combat homophobia within law enforcement and build a relationship and trust between law enforcement and the LGBTQ+ community. Awards a $500 Law Enforcement Scholarship for individuals who identify as gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, or transgender and who are pursuing a career in law enforcement by attending a basic law enforcement training program.

The John Reinert Scholarship award is for individuals who identify as LGBTQ+ who are pursuing a career in law enforcement by attending a basic law enforcement training program.
