Without comprehensive equal rights legislation at the federal level, LGBTQ+ people are subject to an inconsistent patchwork of legal protections in their states and local communities. This leaves millions of our most marginalized people at risk of potential discrimination at work and in their daily lives.

That’s why The Human Rights Campaign fights for LGBTQ+ equality alongside lawmakers at the local and state levels across the country. Find out what HRC is doing in Virginia and how you can help secure equal rights for all of its LGBTQ+ citizens.

After the largest investment in a state legislative election in organization history in 2019, HRC helped elect a pro-equality majority in both chambers; in 2020 the Virginia Values Act, long-stalled non-discrimination protections for LGBTQ+ Virginians, became law. We're ready to make more history with you in 2021 and keep Virginia moving forward by electing pro-equality lawmakers to represent you in the General Assembly.
