NOVA Southeastern University College of Psychology - Offered to NOVA psychology students who are committed to doing research and professional work aimed at increasing self-acceptance and community acceptance of gay and lesbian individuals.

This award celebrates the coalitional work of individuals working in women’s and gender equity centers. Recipients will have built successful partnerships in the service of racial justice and gender equity. Partnerships may include campus departments, academic units, other institutions, community agencies and/or professional organizations/associations.

onePULSE considers many factors when assessing scholarship applicants, including the applicant’s personal story, financial need or independence, strong academic or self-improvement interest, and proven track record of leadership, community involvement and/or work experience. Preference will be given to applicants who are immediate family members of the 49 victims, as well as all of the survivors of the tragedy and first responders to the event. Family members, survivors and first responders are strongly encouraged to apply.

The OPALGA+ Scholarship Fund provides financial support for continuing education of local, Cook County Illinois, LGBTQIA+ students and allies who have demonstrated service and advocacy to the LGBTQIA+ community and/or the larger community. Scholarships are $5,000 each paid directly to the college or program you plan to attend. OPALGA+ recognizes that young people in the LGBTQIA+ community face unique challenges in high school, college, and trade school programs. We are committed to providing support for the next generation of activists and leaders who are self-identified members and/or allies of the LGBTQIA+ community from Oak Park and surrounding areas. Since 2014, we have awarded over $220,000 in scholarships.
