Applicant must be a senior in a Maine high school who has been accepted to any institution of higher learning. Cover letter (with applicant's name, address, phone number, name of high school, and name of higher educational institution that they are planning to attend), two letters of recommendation, a copy of acceptance letter from the selected institution of higher education, and essay answering a specified question.

A total of $10,000 may be awarded. Up to three scholarships of varying sizes may be available for students of any North Carolina accredited high school in the Sandhills region which includes the following counties: Cumberland, Hoke, Harnett, Lee, Montgomery, Moore, Richmond, or Scotland counties in North Carolina. One scholarship totaling $5,000 and two additional scholarships of $2,500 may be available. The $5,000 Scholarship is paid out over multiple years as follows: Year 1: $2,500, Year 2: $2,500. Be a graduating high school senior entering an institute of higher education. 2. Be a resident of the Sandhills region of North Carolina in one of the counties listed above. 3. The Daniel C. Orey Equity Scholarship is intended to provide financial support to students at Sacramento State.
