#HBCUOutLoud Day

HRC Foundation’s Historically Black College and Universities (HBCU) Program has coined a national day (#HBCUOutLoudDay) to raise awareness about the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer HBCU community. HBCU OutLoud Day is an opportunity for HBCUs to host pride events, amplify diversity milestones, and strategize on LGBTQ equity and inclusion work on campus.

#HBCUOutLoud is for everyone who cares about supporting the LGBTQ community and HBCUs. Research demonstrates that the landscape for equity and inclusion for LGBTQ students on HBCU campuses is improving, yet many still lack the policies and practices that close the gap on discrimination, stigma, and bias. That’s why we launched #HBCUOUTloud Day, a national day to raise public awareness about the HBCU LGBTQ community and provide folks with easy ways to make a difference.

When is #HBCUOutLoudDay?

#HBCUOutloud Day will take place on Wednesday, October 21, 2020.

What happens on #HBCUOUTloudDay?

#HBCUOutloud Day is an opportunity to raise public awareness about the HBCU LGBTQ community. Over the years, the Human Rights Campaign engaged HBCUs in a variety of ways, reaching over 500 LGBTQ HBCU students. Together, we can end stigma and discrimination and support an inclusive and equitable campus environment. Basically, we aim to flood social media with images of support for the LGBTQ and HBCU communities.
