McCain and Coons Amendment to the Schumer Amendment to the Broader Options for Americans Act Motion to Invoke Cloture (S. Amdt. 1955)

Sens. John McCain (R-AZ) and Chris Coons (D-DE) offered an amendment to the Schumer Amendment to the Broader Options for Americans Act (S. Amdt. 1958 to H.R. 2579) to provide Dreamers with conditional permanent residence and a pathway to citizenship if they have DACA status or meet the qualifications.

The Senate defeated the amendment, which needed 60 votes to invoke cloture, on February 15, 2018, by a vote of 52-47 (Roll Call Vote No. 33, 2nd Session, 115th Congress). Democrats – 46 yes, 1 no, 0 not voting; Republicans – 4 yes, 46 no, 1 not voting; Independents – 2 yes, 0 no, 0 not voting.
