Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY) offered an amendment to the FY 2017 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies Appropriations Act (H.R. 4974) to prohibit LGBTQ discrimination by federal contractors in military construction and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
The House defeated the amendment on May 19, 2016, by a vote of 212-213 (Roll Call Vote No. 226, 2nd session, 114th Congress). Democrats – 183 yes, 0 no, 5 not voting; Republicans – 29 yes, 213 no, 3 not voting.
