Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-Kan.) offered an amendment to the FY 2013 Commerce, Justice & Science Appropriations bill, prohibiting the use of funds in the bill “in contravention of” the Defense of Marriage Act.
The House adopted the amendment on May 9, 2012, by a vote of 245-171 (Roll Call Vote No. 235, 2nd Session, 112th Congress). Democrats — 16 yes, 164 no, 10 not voting; Republicans — 229 yes, 7 no, 5 not voting.
HRC opposed the amendment.
