Byrne Amendment to the FY 2017 Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act (H. Amdt. 1130)

Rep. Bradley Byrne (R-AL) offered an amendment to the FY 2017 Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act (H.R. 5055) to reaffirm an executive order which added religious exemptions to long standing non-discrimination protections for federal contractors and to ensure that funds from the energy and water appropriations bill would not be used in contravention of the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

The House adopted the amendment on May 25, 2016, by a vote of 233-186 (Roll Call Vote No. 259, 2nd session, 114th Congress). Democrats – 2 yes, 179 no, 7 not voting; Republicans – 231 yes, 7 no, 7 not voting.
