Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.) offered an amendment to the FY 2012 Department of Defense Appropriations bill, prohibiting the use of funds in the bill “in contravention of” the Defense of Marriage Act.
The House adopted the amendment on July 7, 2011, by a vote of 248-175 (Roll Call Vote No. 516, 1st Session, 112th Congress). Democrats — 19 yes, 169 no, 4 not voting; Republicans — 229 yes, 6 no, 4 not voting.
HRC opposed the amendment.
