LGBT Families Reach Out to Evangelical Mega-Churches

The nonprofit group Soulforce, in collaboration with the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches (UFMCC), the National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC) and COLAGE, has sent letters to the leaders of six of the nation's largest evangelical mega-churches asking them to sit down with LGBT families for a ground-breaking discussion. The "American Family Outing" is set for spring 2008 and will provide a forum for families to share their stories with evangelical leaders and discuss the implications of religion-based discrimination.
