HRC Congratulates Pro-Equality Senator-Elect Peters On Victory

by Charles Joughin

WASHINGTON – The Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization, tonight congratulated Michigan’s Senator-elect Gary Peters on his victory. David Stacy, HRC’s Government Affairs Director, issued the following statement:

“Senator-elect Peters is a longtime champion of LGBT equality. During his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, Peters made his mark as a committed advocate for fair treatment and equal protection for all. As he prepares to continue this work in the United States Senate, we offer our congratulations as we continue to work together on equality issues.”

The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. HRC envisions a world where LGBT people are embraced as full members of society at home, at work and in every community.
