HRC: Boyle Approval by Senate Committee Undermines a Fair Judiciary

by Admin

'Judge Boyle's record makes him unfit for confirmation,' said HRC President Joe Solmonese.

WASHINGTON - Judge Terrence Boyle - a nominee for the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals - was approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee today. Boyle is one of only seven judicial nominees opposed by the Human Rights Campaign based on his long history of ignoring binding precedent and a hostility to civil rights. HRC President Joe Solmonese made the following statement today:

&quotJudge Boyle's record makes him unfit for confirmation. Our judges should uphold the highest virtues, yet Judge Boyle has consistently demonstrated a hostility for civil rights and has tried to limit the scope of important legislation such as the Americans with Disabilities Act. Fair-minded senators on both sides of the aisle should carefully examine Judge Boyle's record, and when they do it will be clear that his nomination to a lifetime appointment should be defeated.&quot
