46 Days & Counting: Celebrating LGBTQ Progress Under the Biden-Harris Administration

by Brandon Hooks

Joe Biden ran to be a president for all Americans. A president who supports LGBTQ people. That was no malarkey.

Saturday, March 6 will mark the 46th day of our 46th president’s administration. To celebrate what we've already achieved and imagine what we can accomplish together in the next four years, the Human Rights Campaign asked LGBTQ people across the world to reflect on what they’ve seen from the Biden-Harris Administration so far, and share their hopes for the future.

We held a virtual town hall with Senator Tammy Baldwin, Rep. Angie Craig, White House Deputy Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, White House Senior Adviser on LGBTQ+ Issues Reggie Greer and more to discuss President Biden’s actions on behalf of our community and his agenda moving forward.

Passing the Equality Act

President Biden’s executive order extending civil rights protections to LGBTQ people is a major milestone for equality. Now, we must cement these protections into law. Congress must pass the Equality Act, which will finally provide consistent, explicit non-discrimination protections for LGBTQ people.
