It’s October, and for schools, communities and youth-serving organizations across the country, that means Bullying Prevention Month. Originally created in 2006 by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center, the goal of the month-long campaign is to educate and raise-awareness around bullying prevention.

Preventing bias-based bullying is a cornerstone of the Welcoming Schools approach. Throughout the month of October, HRC will publish a variety of blog posts highlighting Welcoming Schools trainings, book lists and lesson plans around bullying.

Welcoming Schools knows that bullying isn’t something that can be fixed with a few activities in one month alone. That’s why we’re pleased to offer you strategies and resources to help you effect long-term change in the culture of your classroom and school.

Stay tuned to the HRC Facebook page for weekly updates from Welcoming Schools, and join with us this October as we work toward school climates where all students can learn and grow free from bullying and harassment.

HRC's Welcoming Schools is the nation's premier program dedicated to creating respectful and supportive elementary schools by embracing family diversity, creating LGBTQ-and gender-inclusive schools, preventing bias-based bullying, and supporting transgender and non-binary students.
