Energizing Voters in Illinois

by HRC Staff

We’re just hours away from Election Day and campaign offices across America are buzzing.

This post comes from Tommy Lodge, HRC’s Senior Manager of Membership Outreach:

We’re just hours away from Election Day and campaign offices across America are buzzing. Here on the North shore of Chicago is no exception.  I’m here on the ground working for HRC-endorsed candidate Brad Schneider, running against incumbent Bob Dold in Illinois’ 10th congressional district.  Over the last week, I have spoken with hundreds of enthusiastic members about HRC’s position on the race and asking them to volunteer.

Brad is not just an ally of the community, he is a staunch and proud advocate.  His support of ENDA and marriage equality are not just talking points to be found on his website, he instead touts his position (and Dold’s opposition to both) at every opportunity he gets.  These positions are reinforced in his phone calls, his door knocking – at every chance he gets.  Even his first question posted to Rep. Dold in a recent debate was why his support for the LGBT community does not meet the views of his district.  For more information on Brad and his campaign, visit http://schneiderforcongress.com/.

Rated as a “tossup” by RealClearPolitics and almost every political prognosticator, this race truly could go either way.  Do you live in the district or in the greater Chicagoland area and have some to give for get out the vote?  If so, please call (618) 780-5772 to volunteer tomorrow.  You also can learn more at HRC’s Election Center site – www.hrc.org/election.
