Washington – The Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization, today applauded Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin’s appointment of Beth Robinson to the Vermont Supreme Court.  Robinson was co-counsel in the case that brought civil unions to Vermont.  HRC President Joe Solmonese issued the following statement:

“Beth Robinson has been a pioneer for justice and equality under the law and the people of Vermont will be well served with her insightful legal mind on the state’s highest court.  She has shown through her decades of legal work a commitment to the law and to all Vermonters.”

The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. By inspiring and engaging all Americans, HRC strives to end discrimination against LGBT citizens and realize a nation that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all.
