HRC Mississippi was honored to take part in the third annual Pride Camp on Saturday, August 26 at the University of Mississippi.  Designed to provide networking opportunities and exposure to campus resources to LGBTQ and ally students, Pride Camp is also a place to meet like-minded people and form friendships as school gets underway.  Undergraduate, graduate and professional students participated in the event.

During a panel discussion, I had the opportunity to share some of the important work we're doing in Mississippi to improve the lives of LGBTQ people living in our state.  We also took advantage of this great event to sign up new volunteers and supporters to be involved in our work going forward.

While visiting with the students, I made a point to highlight our resources at HRC, specifically our Time to THRIVE conference coming up next year from February 16-18, in Orlando, Florida. Time to THRIVE is an annual national conference that brings together K-12 educators, counselors and other youth-serving professionals to build awareness and cultural competency to better support LGBTQ youth.

We look forward to participating in Pride Camp next year and continuing to advance our work with University of Mississippi students and youth across the state to empower them in the fight for LGBTQ equality on campus and beyond.
