Last week, western regional field organizer Christopher Cooke and several HRC members joined Equality California and coalition partners for LGBT Advocate Day 2017 at the state capitol in Sacramento.

More than 250 activists were on hand to learn about various issues affecting the LGBTQ community, including HIV & AIDS, immigration, health hare, criminal justice reform and transgender inclusive policies. These advocates learned how to effectively engage their assembly members while supporting key pieces of legislation

While more than 130 anti-LGBTQ bills have been introduced in 30 states this year, California continues to lead the resistance and set the standard for other states. HRC will continue to work with Equality California and our allies to ensure that LGBTQ rights in the community are protected and valued.
