Modern Family Stars Join Fight for Marriage Equality with Human Rights Campaign Sweepstakes

Eric Stonestreet and Jesse Tyler Ferguson will host two lucky fans for dinner; proceeds go toward HRC’s nationwide equality fight

10/12/2012

Washington– The Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization, is launching a sweepstakes opportunity that will send a winner and a guest to California, where they will have dinner with Modern Family stars Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet. The participation of Ferguson and Stonestreet represents one of the first times celebrities are lending their voices to raise funds for the nationwide marriage equality fight in the 2012 election cycle and beyond. More at www.hrc.org/modernfamily.

“Jesse and Eric are longtime allies both of the LGBT equality movement and of the Human Rights Campaign,” said HRC President Chad Griffin. “We’re thrilled to have them once again speak out for marriage equality and help us in raising funds for the critical work we have to do in ensuring that all families are treated with dignity and respect. Jesse and Eric have magnetic personalities, and we’re confident that with their help we’ll be able to continue making impactful investments in this fight.”

In the video (available at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXF1bu7zsJc), the two make the case for why they’re getting involved in the fight for marriage:

“Whether you are gay or straight, the family we portray on TV might remind you a little of your own… and this election year couldn’t be more important for securing equality for committed relationships, like the one we are,” says Ferguson. “…on TV,” adds straight ally Stonestreet.

The Human Rights Campaign is the largest national lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender political organization with members throughout the country. It effectively lobbies Congress, provides campaign support and educates the public to ensure that LGBT Americans can be open, honest and safe at home, at work and in the community.
