The HRC Internship Program provides an invaluable opportunity for college students and recent graduates committed to making a difference in the lives of LGBTQ people to work for the nation’s largest LGBTQ civil rights organization in pursuing our mission to ensure that all are embraced as full members of society -- at home, at work and in every community.

Every year, HRC welcomes dozens of young people from around the world for one of our three internship sessions, in the spring, summer and fall. At HRC, interns get hands-on experience working for a high-profile, high-impact non-profit in the nation’s capital -- learning about the issues driving our work, taking part in educational opportunities, working closely with our experts and assisting at HRC events.

Our team works to ensure that HRC interns get the best experience during their time with us at HRC headquarters. We offer a mentorship program that matches interns with an experienced staff member, providing a valuable opportunity for networking within our organization. We continue to enhance our in-house educational “brown bag” series for interns, adding topics to ensure that our interns leave here with a much deeper understanding of the issues of importance to our community -- from battling the HIV and AIDS epidemic, to advancing global equality and much more. We’ve also incorporated  a D.C.-based field trip that focuses on LGBTQ and other civil rights issues with visits to institutions such as the African American Civil War Museum and the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

All interns will also receive stipends beginning with our summer 2020 session.  We encourage a wide, talented pool of leaders -- present and future -- to join us!

Apply now for an internship with HRC and help us make change as part of our equality movement. We are currently accepting applications for summer 2020. The priority deadline is Friday, February 21 at midnight - apply today!
