Celebrating Love in 2020

Even though 2020 was a difficult year in some aspects, there are still so many moments to celebrate — especially when it comes to love! Some of our favorite LGBTQ icons got engaged, married and expanded their families this year. Here’s a list of our favorite love moments to commemorate:

Jonathan Bennett, made famous for the role of Aaron Samuels in “Mean Girls” and now starring in the Hallmark movie “The Christmas House,” recently got engaged to boyfriend and Amazing Race Alum Jaymes Vaughan after three years together!

Comedian and actress Niecy Nash married singer Jessica Betts in an intimate wedding ceremony this past August. We couldn’t have asked for a better surprise to lighten up 2020!

“Modern Family” star Jesse Tyler Ferguson and husband Justin Mikita, member of the HRC Foundation Board of Directors, welcomed their first child, Beckett, in July. We can’t get over how adorable this picturesque family is!

Sports’ ultimate power couple, U.S. Women’s National Team soccer star Megan Rapione and Women’s National Basketball Association star Sue Bird, announced their engagement in October after dating for four years. We’re looking forward to this amazing duo’s upcoming wedding!

TV star and advocate Raven Symone married partner Miranda Pearman-Maday in June. When Symone announced her marriage, she wrote, “I got married to a woman who understands my from trigger to joy, from breakfast to midnight snack, from stage to home.” We are so excited for their journey together as newlyweds!

CNN Anchor Anderson Cooper announced the birth of his son Wyatt Morgan Cooper in April. When asked about his new baby, Cooper said, “It's extraordinary. It's astonishing, I just stare at him and hold him and I just can't believe that he's going to depend on me and that he belongs (to me) and that he's here.”

Molly Bernard, star of “Younger” and “Chicago Med,” announced her engagement to girlfriend Hannah Lieberman on Instagram in January and captioned the post “We said YES!” alongside their dog Henry. Molly and Hannah’s coming nuptials have us ecstatic for their future.

Ali Krieger and Ashlyn Harris, both members of the U.S. Women’s National Team and the NWSL’s Orlando Pride, got married after 10 years of dating. They kicked off 2020 by posting their wedding video for the world to see on YouTube on Jan. 1!

Director, producer and writer Ryan Murphy and husband David Miller welcomed their third son, Griffin, in August. Baby Griffin joins older siblings Logan (7) and Ford (6) as the newest addition to the Miller Murphy family.
