After years of serving as a Pastoral Minister in Minneapolis's Salem English Lutheran Church, Jen Nagel was "extraordinarily ordained" by Extraordinary Lutheran Ministries, a nonprofit organization dedicated to credentialing openly LGBT people for ministry. Nagel's installation is the most recent public challenge to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's (ELCA) policy banning non-celibate gay people from serving as pastors.
