Rand Paul Does Not Believe in LGBT Rights — Who Else Agrees with Him?

by Ianthe Metzger

WASHINGTON — Today, the Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization, condemned Kentucky Senator Rand Paul for his ignorant statements after media reports emerged that Paul said he doesn't believe in “gay rights” because doing so would be giving rights based on “behavior.”

“Senator Paul’s shameful comments have no place in a 21st Century campaign,” said Fred Sainz of the Human Rights Campaign. “Rand Paul has now forced the question on potential Republican candidates, do you agree that there is no need for the concept of LGBT rights in America?”

The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. HRC envisions a world where LGBT people are embraced as full members of society at home, at work and in every community.
