WASHINGTON– The Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization, today released a web video featuring Grammy and Academy award winner Jennifer Hudson for its Americans for Marriage Equality campaign.  In the video, Hudson discusses her longtime support for LGBT equality and announced a new partnership with HRC.  She also broke the news that she will be performing at the organization’s 18th Annual National Dinner on Saturday, October 25, 2014, in Washington, DC.

“Jennifer Hudson’s extraordinary talents on and off the stage inspire us in our work for full LGBT equality,” said HRC President Chad Griffin. “Her performance at our national dinner is sure to make a remarkable evening even more exceptional. We're thrilled Jennifer is joining us, and we're incredibly grateful to have her support moving forward as we work together to fight discrimination and engage all Americans in the conversation about the need for nationwide equality.”

A Grammy Award-winning recording artist, Academy Award-winning actress, and best-selling author, Jennifer Hudson is expected to perform some of the hits that helped catapult her to stardom, as well as songs off her recently-released and highly acclaimed third album, “JHUD.”  Hudson has long been a supporter of LGBT equality, and recently appeared on the cover of HRC’s “Equality” magazine, which is available online at HRC.org/JenniferHudson

The National Dinner, which is already sold out and expected to draw over 3,000 guests, will be held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center with receptions starting at 5:00 PM.   As was previously announced, President Bill Clinton will deliver the evening’s keynote address.  Elton John and his partner David Furnish will attend to accept HRC’s National Equality Award.
