HRC joins other national LGBTQ+ rights groups in endorsing Rep. Titone’s groundbreaking bid

DENVER — Today the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) PAC, the nation’s largest LGBTQ+ civil rights organization, announced its endorsement of Colorado State Rep. Brianna Titone in her campaign for State Treasurer. Representative Titone was elected to the Colorado Legislature in 2018 and became the first transgender Coloradan to serve in that body.

During her time in the Colorado House, she has led on a variety of important pieces of legislation, including a bill to ban the “Gay or Trans Panic” defense. She has also put forth important fiscal legislation, such as price gouging protections and public employee workplace protections.

“Throughout her life, Brianna Titone has shown up, done the work, and made a difference in people’s lives,” said HRC President Kelley Robinson. “She’s the epitome of a public servant and a trailblazer as the first transgender person elected to the Colorado Legislature. As Colorado treasurer, she’ll continue the track record she’s already established in protecting consumer rights, keeping eye on the bottom line and ensuring the state’s fiscal health. We at the Human Rights Campaign are proud to endorse Brianna for treasurer and we’re excited to team up with her to help her win this election."

“Equality isn’t just about dignity — it’s about economic opportunity and financial security for every Coloradan,” said Representative Brianna Titone. “As state treasurer, I will protect our retirement systems, invest our tax dollars wisely, and ensure that government works for all people.”

HRC joins two other national LGBTQ+ rights organizations, The Victory Fund and LPAC, who endorsed Representative Titone’s bid for State Treasurer last year.

"LPAC is proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with our movement partners in supporting a history-making trailblazer like Brianna Titone,” said LPAC Board Chair Shari Weiner. “Time and again, Brianna has shown that she never backs down from a fight, especially when it comes to standing up for her constituents and delivering real results. Her leadership, integrity, and breadth of experience set her apart, and as Colorado State Treasurer she will bring a powerful, proven skillset to a critical statewide office. Coloradans will be better off because of her service and her commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive future.”

“Brianna Titone represents exactly why LGBTQ+ Victory Fund exists,” said LGBTQ+ Victory Fund President & CEO Evan Low. “She has flipped a tough seat, governed with courage, and brought serious expertise to public service. Brianna understands how to protect public dollars and put them to work for everyday Coloradans. Electing her as State Treasurer would be a historic milestone as the first openly transgender person elected to statewide executive office, and just as important, it would put a proven, trusted leader in charge of Colorado’s finances.”

HRC’s Commitment to Colorado

Equality Voters — including the more than 1.6 million in Colorado — are a powerful and diverse voting bloc united by support for LGBTQ+ equality. Equality Voters are younger, more racially diverse, and more female than the general electorate, and they recognize and trust the HRC brand. HRC PAC has made significant investments in Colorado over the years, working to elect pro-equality champions up and down the ballot. Today, HRC PAC continues to build on this legacy by mobilizing Equality Voters and supporting leaders, like Brianna Titone, who are committed to ensuring every Coloradan can live free from discrimination and with full dignity under the law.
