HRC Urges U.S. Senate to Reject DHS Funding Proposal

by Sam Lau

"We call on the Senate to reject any additional funding for this weaponized agency and put a stop to the Trump administration’s assault on our cities.”

WASHINGTON — Today, the U.S. House passed four government funding bills, including the appropriations bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security and its ICE agency that is terrorizing American communities. The U.S. Senate must reject any bill that provides funding to an agency that is using taxpayer dollars to target our neighbors, families, and loved ones.

Statement from HRC President Kelley Robinson:

“Every day, DHS and ICE bring more horror to our communities, from the murder of Renee Good to the detention of a 5-year old boy. For weeks, HRC has called for the resignation of Secretary Kristi Noem, but this goes beyond any one person. ICE and DHS have become weapons of state-sanctioned cruelty against our neighbors, families, and loved ones. We call on the Senate to reject any additional funding for this weaponized agency and put a stop to the Trump administration’s assault on our cities.”
