HRC Statement on Election Loss of Senator Udall

by Stephen Peters

WASHINGTON – The Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization, tonight issued the following statement on the election loss for Colorado U.S. Senator Mark Udall. David Stacy, HRC’s Government Affairs Director, said:

“It’s hard to describe this result as anything less than heartbreaking. Mark Udall is a remarkable leader and his absence on Capitol Hill come January will be deeply felt. We hope that Senator-elect Gardner will understand that a clear majority of Americans want to see progress made for LGBT people in Congress, and that he will vote to advance equality.”

The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. HRC envisions a world where LGBT people are embraced as full members of society at home, at work and in every community.
