HRC Creates Facebook Quiz on Anti-LGBT Congressmen in Tomorrow's DOMA Hearing

House Judiciary Constitution Subcommittee members have long history of discriminatory rhetoric.

Washington - Today, the Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization, released a Facebook application that quizzes users on anti-LGBT statements made by members of the Constitution Subcommittee of the House Judiciary Committee. The subcommittee will hold a hearing tomorrow on the federal Defense of Marriage Act that denies federal recognition to legally married same-sex couples.

"Unfortunately, tomorrow's hearing will showcase some of the most potently anti-LGBT Members of Congress and the American people should know what they've had to say about equal rights," said HRC President Joe Solmonese. "Thankfully the minority members of the subcommittee including Representatives Nadler, Conyers, Scott and Quigley are longtime champions of LGBT equality."

Statements on the quiz include members calling for President Obama's impeachment over DOMA, making wild claims about employment discrimination protections and saying gender neutral forms undermine the bedrock of our nation. Subcommittee members included are Reps. Trent Franks, Mike Pence, Steve Chabot, Randy Forbes, Steve King and Jim Jordan.

The app is available to anyone with a Facebook account at http://apps.facebook.com/hrc-quiz/.

The Human Rights Campaign is America's largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. By inspiring and engaging all Americans, HRC strives to end discrimination against LGBT citizens and realize a nation that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all.
