Last week, HRC joined Mississippi State University (MSU) to welcome LGBTQ and ally students back to school at an event on the Starkville campus. HRC Mississippi was honored to take part in helping students connect with each other and discover various resources available to them. It was also an occasion to exhibit organizations that provide aid and advocacy for the LGBTQ community.
As State Director for HRC Mississippi and a MSU alum, I was excited to be on hand at the event to share HRC’s work in the Magnolia State. I highlighted HRC’s current #LoveYourNeighbor campaign to elevate and highlight the lives and stories of LGBTQ and ally Mississippians.
This was the third consecutive year for HRC Mississippi staff to participate in this important event at MSU, while signing up many new volunteers and supporters to be involved in our work going forward.
We will continue to advance our work with MSU students and youth across the state to empower them in the fight for LGBTQ equality on campus and beyond.
As young people push to attain the goals of the queer community on their campuses, HRC is working to provide tools, facilitate connections with other LGBTQ student activists across the country and to empower youth to fight for equality. Learn more here.
