Early voting is underway in Arizona, and HRC is on the ground to #TurnOUT LGBTQ voters and the hundreds of thousands of Equality Voters in the state who support equality. With our best shot to pull the emergency brake on Trump-Pence’s dangerous agenda less than two weeks away, we’re exposing Arizona’s anti-equality candidates and highlighting their records undermining LGBTQ rights and attacking our nation’s progress. 

From opposing critical protections for transgender youth, to voting in favor of anti-LGBTQ discrimination in federal agencies, these candidates are a threat to our community and are dangerously out of step with the majority of Arizona voters who believe in equality and justice for all. 

Here’s what you need to know about four of Arizona’s anti-equality candidates before you cast your ballot this November:

Martha McSally, U.S. Senate candidate

• Opposed marriage equality
• Voted to deny transgender troops necessary healthcare
• Voted to allow sweeping anti-LGBT discrimination in federal agencies
• Voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act, raise healthcare premiums, roll back protections for 2.8 million Arizonans with pre-existing conditions, and jeopardize Medicare and Social Security

Steve Gaynor, Secretary of State candidate

• Opposed adding sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression to existing non-discrimination protections
• Opposed a ban on so-called “conversion therapy”

Mark Brnovich, Attorney General candidate

• Signed onto a Supreme Court brief in support of granting businesses a potentially sweeping license to discriminate against LGBTQ people
• Opposed allowing transgender kids to use bathrooms that align with their gender identity
• Opposed marriage equality

Wendy Rogers, U.S. House candidate  (AZ-01)

• Said gender-inclusive pronouns were her “pet peeve”
• Opposed adding sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression to existing non-discrimination protections
• Said she wants to repeal the Affordable Care Act
