Jonathan Lovitz is a nationally recognized leader in public affairs, economic policy, and strategic communications, with deep expertise in advancing inclusive growth through both government and nonprofit leadership.
Before joining the HRC, he served as a Director of Public Affairs and Senior Advisor at the U.S. Department of Commerce, where he was appointed by the Biden-Harris Administration to help lead the national communications and stakeholder strategy for major initiatives including the CHIPS and Science Act. He managed a national team across Washington, D.C., and regional offices, contributing to billions in federal investment and job creation as part of the Administration’s “Investing in America” agenda.
Previously, Jonathan spent nearly a decade on the executive team at the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC), where he led over 30 successful public policy initiatives for them and their partners in the National Business Inclusion Consortium (NBIC), built partnerships with more than 400 corporate and government stakeholders, and advanced economic opportunities for minority-owned businesses nationwide. His advocacy has opened billions in new contracting and procurement access for LGBTQ+, veteran, disabled, and BIPOC entrepreneurs.
Today, Jonathan is the founder of Lovitz Strategies, advising governments, Fortune 500s, and nonprofits on embedding inclusive policy and impactful communications into their work. A frequent media contributor and speaker, he is recognized as a trusted voice on economic empowerment, LGBTQ+ inclusion, and civic engagement. In 2023, he was named to Out Magazine’s OUT100 for his national impact.
