Jonathan Lovitz

Jonathan Lovitz is a nationally recognized leader in public affairs, economic policy, and strategic communications, with more than 15 years of experience advancing inclusive growth through government service, nonprofit leadership, and coalition building.

Before joining the Human Rights Campaign, Jonathan served as Director of Public Affairs and Senior Advisor at the U.S. Department of Commerce. Appointed by the Biden–Harris Administration, he helped lead national communications and stakeholder strategies for major economic initiatives, including the CHIPS and Science Act. Working with teams in Washington, D.C., and across the country, Jonathan played a key role in supporting billions of dollars in federal investment and job creation as part of the Administration’s “Investing in America” agenda.

Earlier in his career, Jonathan spent nearly a decade on the executive team at the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC). There, he led more than 30 successful public policy initiatives, built partnerships with over 400 corporate and government stakeholders, and worked to expand economic opportunity for minority-owned businesses nationwide. His advocacy helped open billions in new contracting and procurement opportunities for LGBTQ+, veteran, disabled, and BIPOC entrepreneurs.

A frequent media contributor and sought-after speaker, he is widely recognized as a trusted voice on economic empowerment, LGBTQ+ inclusion, and civic engagement. In 2023, Out Magazine named him to the OUT100 for his national leadership and impact.
