HRC Commends Appointment of Benjamin Mizer as Interim Head of Civil Division at Justice Dept

by Stephen Peters

WASHINGTON - Today, the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization, commended the appointment of Benjamin C. Mizer as Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General and Acting Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Division. HRC Legal Director Sarah Warbelow issued the following statement:

“Mizer is an incredible public servant whose strong record and experience make him an exceptionally qualified individual to fill this important role within the Department of Justice. As an openly gay man, his interim appointment is especially significant because the division works to uphold the civil and constitutional rights of some of the most vulnerable members of our society, including LGBT people. We have no doubt he will excel in this role pursuing justice for all Americans.”

The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. HRC envisions a world where LGBT people are embraced as full members of society at home, at work and in every community.
