The National LGBTQIA+ Health Education Center provides educational programs, resources, and consultation to health care organizations with the goal of optimizing quality, cost-effective health care for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, and all sexual and gender minority (LGBTQIA+) people.

How do I find a general introductory webinar on LGBTQIA+ health?

Learners that are new to the topic are encouraged to begin their training with a general introductory webinar on LGBTQIA+ patient-centered care from the National LGBTQIA+ Health Education Center (Education Center). We suggest starting with:

Achieving Health Equity for LGBTQIA+ People (2020): In this webinar, Dr. Alex Keuroghlian discusses LGTBQIA+ concepts and terminology, highlights the relationship between stigma and LGBTQIA+ health disparities, and describes best practices in effective communication, data collection, and creating an inclusive environment. How do I receive CME/CEU and HEI credits for these webinars?

To receive CME/CEU and HEI credits for these webinars, you first need to register with the National LGBTQIA+ Health Education Center. Once you create an account and password for the website, you will then be able to complete and HEI credit form. View the instructions on how to register. Or, go straight to the Education Center’s website to register and log-in under “My Learning.”

Once you complete each webinar or module, you will be given instructions on how to access credits.

What kind of CME/CEU credits does the Education Center provide?

The Education Center’s parent organization, Fenway Health, is certified to offer prescribed credits from the American Academy of Family Physicians. AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ and the American Nurses Credentialing Center accepts credits awarded by the AAFP.

Physicians: AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award. When applying for the AMA PRA, Prescribed credit earned must be reported as Prescribed, not as Category 1.

Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Nurses, Medical Assistants: AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the following organizations. Please contact them directly about how participants should report the credit they earned.

Other Health Professionals: You can submit a certification of your participation in the approved activity to your professional licensing board to request a transfer of the credit into the appropriate amount of continuing education units.
