Washington -- Today, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) civil rights organization, named John Baez as the organization’s new Vice President of Marketing. In this role, Baez will report directly to HRC Senior Vice President of Communications and Marketing Olivia Alair Dalton and will oversee marketing strategy, digital media efforts and brand management for HRC.

“John is a creative and strategic thinker who brings more than 20 years of high-level experience in marketing, advertising and media,” said Dalton. “We are proud to have him leading our powerhouse marketing team and award-winning digital, video and design staff. At a time when we face unprecedented attacks against the LGBTQ community at every level, we are thrilled to have John on board helping to ensure we’re prepared to meet the challenges ahead in our fight for full equality.”

Baez previously served as Vice President, Marketing Operations and Strategy at Viacom Velocity, where he shaped and unified marketing efforts across the MTV, VH1, Logo, Comedy Central, Paramount, TV Land and CMT networks. While serving as Vice President, Integrated Marketing for MTV, Baez developed and produced integrated marketing and co-branded cross-platform content campaigns for hundreds of MTV clients including Frito-Lay, General Motors, Subaru, Target and The Truth.

Additionally, Baez is one of the founding partners of Punkmouse, one of the leading LGBTQ-centric boutique-marketing ideation and branding firms. He is the co-author of “The Gay and Lesbian Guide to College Life” by the Princeton Review.
