ROY MOORE -- UNFIT TO SERVE: Further underscoring that Moore should never serve in the U.S. Senate -- or any other public office, CNN’s Andrew Kaczynski (@KFile) and Chris Massie (@ChrisMassie) uncovered a divorce case from the 1990s in which Moore unconscionably denied a mother unsupervised visits with her children, writing that, because she was with a woman, “minor children will be detrimentally affected by the present lifestyle.” In 2016, Moore was removed from the Alabama Supreme Court for refusing to implement a ruling that brought marriage equality to the state -- the second time he was ousted for disobeying legal and ethical standards. He has also outrageously asserted that transgender people “don’t have rights.” Recently, he took his extremism one step further, saying that he and Vladimir Putin may be “more akin... than [he] knows,” citing their shared virulently anti-LGBTQ views. HRC RELEASES CORPORATE EQUALITY INDEX WITH RECORD 609 COMPANIES EARNING PERFECT SCORES: A record number of the nation’s major companies and law firms are advancing vital policies and practices to protect LGBTQ workers around the world, according to the HRC Foundation’s 2018 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), released yesterday. The CEI underscores the historic support for LGBTQ equality among the nation’s top employers as sustained attacks by the Trump-Pence Administration on LGBTQ people continue. FEEL GOOD FRIDAY: HRC released new videos as part of its #LoveYourNeighbor campaign, a groundbreaking storytelling project focused on sharing the experiences of LGBTQ people and allies across the South, particularly in Alabama, Arkansas and Mississippi. The project was funded by a grant from Toyota, which has a manufacturing plant in Blue Springs, Mississippi, just outside Tupelo. TODAY, ON VETERANS DAY -- LGBTQ MILITARY AND VETERANS JOIN HRC AND OTHER ADVOCATES CALLING ON TRUMP TO HONOR ALL TROOPS: HRC and Lambda Legal will hold a press conference in Dallas with former Secretary of the Army Eric Fanning and LGBTQ service members and veterans to call on Trump to honor and support all who serve and have served. The advocates will also provide an update on Karnoski v. Trump, a lawsuit challenging Trump’s transgender military ban. Karnoski v. • A U.S. District Court judge said that the Trump-Pence ban on qualified transgender people serving in the military is already harming active-duty service members. “They are certainly suffering a stigma that exists by virtue of the president’s statements,” Judge Marvin J. REPORTS OF VIOLENCE AGAINST TRANSGENDER PEOPLE CONTINUE TO RISE: In a moving piece for the New York Times, Maggie Astor (@MaggieAstor) writes about the increasing number of incidents of reported violence against transgender people. “There’s no question that transgender people and the trans community have seen an increase in our profile and in our visibility,” HRC National Press Secretary Sarah McBride (@SarahEMcBride) tells Astor. “In many cases, that is a good thing. PASS A CLEAN DREAM ACT NOW: Yesterday, HRC joined United We Dream, immigration advocates and more than 1,000 Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients in a demonstration on Capitol Hill to defend the DREAM Act. DACA was created by the Obama administration in 2012, to protect 800,000 young people who came to U.S. as children. Thanks to DACA, Dreamers who meet certain guidelines are able to attend college, obtain driver's licenses and work permits to support their families. SENATORS CALL ON STATE DEPARTMENT TO INVESTIGATE ANTI-LGBTQ HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSES IN AZERBAIJAN: A bipartisan group of eight U.S. Senators sent a letter to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson urging him to investigate reports that Azerbaijani authorities have detained dozens of LGBTQ people simply because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. In September, it was reported that authorities in Azerbaijan were cracking down on LGBTQ people, arresting at least 60 people while beating, harassing and torturing many of them. TICK-TOCK -- ANTI-LGBTQ FRESNO SCHOOL BOARD LEADER NEEDS TO STEP DOWN: At this week’s meeting of the Fresno Unified school board, attendees held up signs saying “72 Days, No Action” as a reminder of how long it’s been since trustees were asked to discipline board president Brooke Ashjian. HRC has called on Ashjian to resign for his anti-LGBTQ remarks regarding California’s LGBTQ-inclusive comprehensive sex education laws. More from The Fresno Bee.

TRANS INMATE SUES FOR HORMONE THERAPY: A transgender inmate is suing the Indiana Department of Correction because it has refused to allow her access to hormone therapy. The department asserts it has an “informal policy” that prevents people who weren’t receiving hormone therapy before entering correctional facilities to access it when they are incarcerated. GAY TEENAGER ATTACKED IN MICHIGAN: A horrifying video shows a 17-year-old being attacked and robbed by a man who called him homophobic and racist slurs. The perpetrator has been arrested and is facing charges. Read more from Detroit Free Press.
