On Monday, HRC & civil rights orgs host briefing on Equality Act; 161 top U.S. companies now support the Equality Act

AHEAD OF INTRODUCTION NEXT WEEK, HRC AND MAJOR CIVIL RIGHTS ORGANIZATIONS TO HOST PRESS BRIEFING ON EQUALITY ACT: HRC, the National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE), the ACLU, the National Women’s Law Center (NWLC) and the Center for American Progress (CAP) will host a press briefing on the Equality Act, historic federal civil rights legislation that will finally establish clear, consistent, protections for LGBTQ people from coast to coast.   • House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced that the Equality Act will be introduced next week. Read more from the Washington Blade.
  • Carter Brown was fired from his job after being outed as transgender. He continues to advocate for the Equality Act to protect him and countless other LGBTQ people from discrimination in the workplace.
