HRC to honor Christina Aguilera with Ally for Equality Award; Four years ago this week, HRC delivered historic “People’s Brief” to SCOTUS.

THE STRUGGLE FOR TRANSGENDER RIGHTS CONTINUES: HRC Press Secretary, Rapid Response Charlotte Clymer (@cmclymer) and Vice President of the Minneapolis City Council Andrea Jenkins (@andreaforward8) joined Marianne Combs (@MarianneSCombs) of Minnesota Public Radio News to talk about anti-transgender violence -- especially violence targeting transgender women of color; the Trump-Pence administration’s attacks on trans people; and acceptance of trans youth. BISEXUAL ACTIVISTS SPEAK OUT ABOUT SERIOUS HEALTH DISPARITIES FACING THE BISEXUAL/PANSEXUAL/QUEER/FLUID COMMUNITY: HRC spoke with Lauren Beach (@laurenbbeach), LGBTQIA researcher at Northwestern University and a co-founder of the Chicago Bisexual Health Task Force, and Robyn Ochs, international speaker and bi activist who is also the editor of Bi Women Quarterly and of two anthologies. EQUALITY UTAH EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TROY WILLIAMS STEPS DOWN FROM STATE SUICIDE TASK FORCE: Williams resigned after the Governor and the House Judiciary Committee rejected the leading scientific consensus that conversion therapy is harmful and endangers youth and replaced a bill meant to protect youth from this discredited practice with one that would have authorized it. “It is clear you have no interest in keeping your promise, nor are you interested in the plight of LGBTQ youth,” Williams wrote in a Wednesday letter. “I will not be window dressing to provide the Task Force cover. If you change your mind and wish to seriously engage the LGBTQ community, you know where to find me.” Read more from The Salt Lake Tribune.
