TODAY -- HRC ON THE GROUND IN CHICAGO FOR MARIE NEWMAN: HRC President Chad Griffin (@ChadHGriffin) is in Chicago joining NARAL President Ilyse Hogue (@ilyseh) to mobilize HRC members to get out the vote for Marie Newman (@Marie4Congress) -- the pro-equality champion Illinois deserves.

CONOR LAMB WINS PENNSYLVANIA SPECIAL ELECTION:

STUDENTS WALK OUT NATIONWIDE TO PROTEST GUN VIOLENCE:  HRC supports common-sense gun violence prevention measures, including limiting access to assault-style rifles, expanding background checks, and limiting the ability for suspected terrorists, and those with a history of domestic abuse to access guns. THANKFUL THURSDAY: Yesterday, during an appearance on The View, openly lesbian director, actor and trailblazer Lena Waithe (@LenaWaithe) said of being an LGBTQ person of color: “We have to be a bit of a beacon of light for those young kids of color who are wondering like, ‘Am I weird?’ ‘Is something wrong with me?’ ‘What quality of life might I have?’” More from The View.

#JUSTICE FOR KENNE -- MURDER CASE OF TEXAS TRANS WOMAN DISMISSED: Mark Daniel Lewis was accused of manslaughter in the death of Kenne McFadden, but charges were dismissed during Lewis’s probation revocation hearing last week. HRC was on the ground with allied groups in San Antonio, including the San Antonio Gender Association (SAGA), the Transgender Education Network of Texas (TENT) and Equality Texas, calling for justice for Kenne. HRC ON THE GROUND TO PROTECT MARYLAND’S LGBTQ YOUTH: This week, HRC joined advocates from FreeState Justice to advocate for two important pieces of proposed legislation that seek to protect LGBTQ youth across Maryland -- the Youth Mental Health Protection Act and the Ending Youth Homelessness Act of 2018.
