#AM_Equality: Trans athlete & activist Schuyler Bailar pushes for LGBTQ+ inclusion in the fight for abortion rights; HRC mourns Kiér Laprí Kartier

“THIS IS ABOUT ALL OF US”: TRANSGENDER ATHLETE SCHUYLER BAILAR PUSHES FOR LGBTQ+ INCLUSION IN FIGHT FOR ABORTION RIGHTS: Over the weekend, transgender athlete and activist Schuyler Bailar (@sb_pinkmantaray) spoke in Washington, DC about the need for LGBTQ+ inclusion in the fight for abortion rights. In his speech, Schuyler said, “I am here to remind you to make it absolutely clear that people of all genders can have abortions, and people of all genders should have safe and legal access to abortions.” More from CBS.

HRC MOURNS KIÉR LAPRÍ KARTIER, BLACK TRANSGENDER WOMAN KILLED IN ARLINGTON, TEXAS: HRC is deeply saddened to learn of the death of Kiér Laprí Kartier, a 21-year-old Black transgender woman who was fatally shot in Arlington, Texas on September 30, 2021. “With Kartier’s death, we’ve already recorded more incidents of fatal violence this year than at this time last year,” said HRC Director of Community Engagement for the Transgender Justice Initiative Tori Cooper (@MsToriCooper1, she/her). “These attacks on our community must stop, and we need to direct resources toward supporting and protecting transgender and non-binary people.” More from HRC and Advocate.
