HRC shares support for trans staff at Netflix; White House blasts Texas’s pending restriction on trans student-athletes as ‘hateful’

HRC SHARES SUPPORT FOR TRANS STAFF AT NETFLIX, CALLS FOR LEADERSHIP TO LISTEN TO LGBTQ+ VOICES: “History has shown time and time again that creative works can inspire us, bring us joy, and change hearts and minds - and they can also stoke stigma, fear, and hate. Netflix and its CEO need to do more to recognize this truth and meaningfully amplify the lived experience of transgender and non-binary people,” said HRC Senior Vice President for Programs, Research and Training Jay Brown (@ThisIsJayBrown, he/him). “We at HRC support the staff at Netflix who are making their voices heard. Their concerns need to be heard so that leadership can understand the harm they have caused,” said HRC Director of Community Engagement for the Transgender Justice Initiative Tori Cooper (@MsToriCooper1, she/her). WHITE HOUSE BLASTS TEXAS’S PENDING RESTRICTION ON TRANSGENDER STUDENT-ATHLETES AS ‘HATEFUL’: “This hateful bill in Texas is just the latest example of Republican state lawmakers using legislation to target transgender kids -- whom the president believes are some of the bravest Americans -- in order to score political points,” said White House spokesman Ike Hajinazarian. “These anti-transgender bills are nothing more than bullying disguised as legislation and undermine our nation’s core values.” More from Dallas News and HRC.
