HRC AND SHOWTIME® ANNOUNCE RECIPIENTS OF QUEER TO STAY, SMALL BUSINESS GRANT FUNDING: “It is crucial to preserve affirming, welcoming spaces and services for LGBTQ+ people. This initiative celebrates and supports the community by identifying and donating to multiply marginalized LGBTQ+ owned, and serving, small businesses around the country,” said HRC Senior Vice President of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Nicole Cozier. “We are thrilled to work with SHOWTIME once again to ensure that LGBTQ+ patrons, employees and business owners continue to occupy spaces freely, openly and as their authentic selves.” More from HRC.

TWO HRC STAFF HONORED ON POZ 100 LIST FOR 2021: The 2021 POZ 100 list celebrates HIV and AIDS advocates, and two HRC staffers made the list. HRC Director of Community Engagement for the Transgender Justice Initiative Tori Cooper (@MsToriCooper1, she/her) and HRC Alabama State Director Carmarion D. AHEAD OF NCAA SPECIAL CONVENTION, HRC & ATHLETE ALLY LETTER PROMPTS DISCUSSION ABOUT ABSENT NON-DISCRIMINATION PROTECTIONS IN NEW NCAA CONSTITUTION: HRC responded to the NCAA’s Robert Gates after he suggested that rhetoric on diversity can replace previously existing non-discrimination policy in the NCAA constitution. This comes after HRC and Athlete Ally sent a letter to the NCAA calling on it to include non-discrimination protections for LGBTQ+ and transgender student-athletes. More from HRC.

AMERICA’S ONLY LGBTQ+ HISTORIC DISTRICT IS FALLING APART: “It’s high time for the NPS to take responsibility for preserving this site of national significance for LGBTQ history, women’s history, and bohemian and countercultural history,” said LGBTQ+ historian Gerard Koskovich. “The apparent federal obfuscation, foot-dragging and practice if not policy of demolition by neglect with regard to Druid Heights is a scandal.” More from VICE.
