#AM_Equality: New data from HRC explores LGBTQ community concerns about COVID-19 vaccination; Consumer Financial Protection Bureau enforces Bostock

NEW DATA FROM HRC EXPLORES LGBTQ COMMUNITY’S CONCERNS ABOUT THE COVID-19 VACCINES: New data analysis shows that only 29% of Black LGBTQ adults, 32% of bisexual women and 39% of Latinx LGBTQ adults say they are “very likely” to get the COVID-19 vaccine. “We know that despite having three vaccines available for COVID-19, concerns remain for many in the LGBTQ community,” said HRC President Alphonso David. “This educational campaign, ‘For Ourselves, For Each Other: Getting to the Other Side of the Pandemic,’ aims to communicate the facts and latest information about the COVID-19 vaccines, as well as address medical mistrust and community concerns.” More from HRC and The Hill.

CONSUMER FINANCIAL PROTECTION BUREAU ENFORCES EQUAL CREDIT OPPORTUNITY ACT TO PROHIBIT DISCRIMINATION AGAINST LGBTQ PEOPLE: “Thanks to the Consumer Federal Protection Bureau and President Biden, LGBTQ people can no longer be denied a loan or a credit card because of their sexual orientation or gender identity,” said HRC President Alphonso David. “This announcement implementing the Supreme Court’s Bostock ruling and applying it to the Equal Credit Opportunity Act will make a huge impact on the lives of LGBTQ people, particularly transgender people and LGBTQ people of color who face disproportionate rates of discrimination.” More from HRC and Washington Blade.

NEW JERSEY PASSES LANDMARK BILL PROTECTING LGBTQ, HIV+ SENIORS: Last week the “LGBTQI+ Senior Bill of Rights” was signed into law by New Jersey governor Phil Murphy (@GovMurphy). This law “bars discrimination on gender identity, sexual orientation, and HIV status” and “mandates training on those subjects for long-term care staff.” More from plus.
