#AM_Equality: Biden White House working to advance trans rights; Jamie Lee Curtis loves and affirms her transgender child

THE BIDEN WHITE HOUSE BEGINS SHAPING AGENDA TO ADVANCE TRANS RIGHTS: “Last week I had the pleasure of participating in a roundtable at the White House for advocates of transgender women of color from around the country,” said HRC Director of Community Engagement for the Transgender Justice Initiative Tori Cooper (@MsToriCooper1, she/her). “The event was hosted by Domestic Policy Advisor Susan Rice and Co-Chair of the Gender Policy Council Julissa Reynoso. The event was the first in a series of listening sessions that will be convened by the White House-led Interagency Working Group on Safety, Inclusion, and Opportunity for Transgender Individuals, which was announced by the White House in June.” More from HRC.

NEW POLICY AIMS TO HELP TRANSGENDER RESEARCHERS UPDATE NAMES ON PAST WORK: An agreement was announced on Wednesday that simplifies the process of changing a transgender researcher’s name on their past work by shifting the administrative labor from the researcher to the laboratory. “This change eliminates an enormous burden on researchers, emotionally and administratively, to correct the record,” said Lady Idos, the chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer for Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
