HRC SUPPORTS THE FAMILY AND MEDICAL INSURANCE LEAVE (FAMILY) ACT: “Americans should not be forced to decide between taking care of their families and economic security,” said HRC President Alphonso David. “As COVID cases surge, the Family and Medical Insurance Leave Act is crucial legislation that would ensure that millions of Americans -- including LGBTQ families -- have access to paid family and medical leave to care for themselves and their family members. We thank Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Representative Rosa DeLauro for their continued leadership on behalf of all American families and urge Congress to remove an unfair burden on working families and swiftly pass the Family and Medical Insurance Leave Act.” More from HRC.

HRC MOURNS FIFTY BANDZ, BLACK TRANS WOMAN KILLED IN LOUISIANA: “In just one month, multiple transgender or gender non-conforming people have been killed, four of whom were Black trans women. This level of violence is infuriating and heartbreaking,” said HRC Director of Community Engagement for the Transgender Justice Initiative Tori Cooper (@MsToriCooper1). “This is an epidemic of violence that must be stopped. We will continue to affirm that Black Trans Lives Matter and say the names of those we have lost, including Fifty Bandz, but we must do more.
