#AM_Equality: HRC announces new report detailing increase in LGBTQ+ inclusive child welfare agencies; Seattle Storm at the White House

🌈 HRC ANNOUNCES NEW REPORT DETAILING INCREASE IN CHILD WELFARE AGENCIES WORKING TO BECOME LGBTQ+ INCLUSIVE: “The third edition of our Change-Makers report shows that, despite the many hardships of the last year, more organizations than ever before are working alongside the Human Rights Campaign Foundation to make impactful change for the LGBTQ+ youth and families they serve,” said Alison Delpercio (@AlisonDel, she/her), HRC Foundation Director, All Children - All Families. “This year’s participants also demonstrated a growing commitment to intersectionality and ensuring organizational policies and practices do not reinforce the same systems of oppression that put youth and families at risk in the first place. By taking on these challenges, the change-makers featured in our 2021 report are models for youth-serving professionals everywhere.” More from HRC.

🩺 THIS HRC PROGRAM IS GIVING AWAY 5,000 AT-HOME HIV TESTS TO BLACK AND LATINX PEOPLE: Last week, HRC announced the launch of a new initiative intended to help members of the LGBTQ+ community most vulnerable to HIV & AIDS: Black and Latinx people, particularly transgender women. The project, which is currently in the pilot stage, will distribute 5,000 kits over the course of a year, each of which will include an OraQuick oral testing swab, condoms, lubricant and a test information card. 64 MEMBERS OF CONGRESS URGE U.S. TO EVACUATE LGBTQ+ AFGHANS: A letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken that Rep. Chris Pappas (@RepChrisPappas) spearheaded notes LGBTQ+ Afghans face an “existential threat” under Taliban rule. Pappas and the 63 other members of Congress who signed the letter asked the State Department to allow LGBTQ+ Afghans to access the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program.
