#AM_Equality: HRC praises the passage of the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act in the House; how to make schools more welcoming for LGBTQ+ people

HRC PRAISES PASSAGE OF THE JOHN R. LEWIS VOTING RIGHTS ADVANCEMENT ACT (H.R. 4) BY THE U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES: “The Human Rights Campaign praises today’s passage of the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act -- an important step toward ensuring every American is guaranteed their constitutional right to vote and protected against anti-democratic efforts to strip those rights away,” said HRC President Alphonso David (@AlphonsoDavid, he/him). “This bill pushes our country closer to its promise of a more perfect union while upholding the legacy of a hero, civil rights icon, and tireless champion of the work of the Human Rights Campaign, Congressman John Lewis. And with this vote, the House has moved us toward closing the floodgates of voter suppression that the Supreme Court threw open with its decision in Shelby County. The time is now for the United States to guarantee equal and unequivocal access to the fundamental and sacred right to vote -- for all Americans.” More from HRC.
