HRCMondays: Mentoring in the LGBTQ Community

Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Dallas Fort Worth is hosting “#HRCMONDAYS: Mentoring in the LGBTQ Community" for LGBTQ Individuals and Allies, on Monday, April 23rd from 6:30PM-9:00PM at Chino Chinatown at Trinity Groves. The event is free to attend.

Please come out to Chino Chinatown on Monday, April 23rd and hear from guest speaker: Portia Cantrell of the Silver Pride Project. She will be speaking about the Silver Pride Project and their mentoring program with the LGBTQ youth at North Texas Job Corps.

Speakers will begin at 7:00PM. Please feel free to stay for dinner and continue to hang out after the program ends.

Complementary chips and salsa will be offered courtesy of Chino Chinatown and a portion of Equality Vodka sales will benefit the Dallas/Fort Worth HRC Federal Club.

Portia Cantrell of the Silver Pride Project

Portia Cantrell, a retired Trauma Certified Registered Nurse moved to Dallas from Chicago 5 years ago. She is a member of the Dallas Mayor's LGBT Task Force, the Senior Task Force, a member of the Municipal Library Board for the city of Dallas, a member of Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson's Senior Advisory Board, a National Resource Center for LGBT Aging Education Ambassador, as well as a member of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee for the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Dallas. She has organized and implemented The Silver Pride Project, an organization dedicated to providing safe social spaces for the elders of the LGBT community and providing LGBT Senior Specific programming within the city of Dallas. In her spare time, she is working on a much-needed online resource of LGBT informed Physicians and Healthcare Providers in the Dallas/ Fort Worth area.
