#HRCMondays: Access to Healthcare

Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Dallas Fort Worth is hosting “#HRCMONDAYS: Access to Healthcare" for LGBTQ Individuals and Allies, on Monday, May 28th from 6:30PM-9:00PM at Chino Chinatown at Trinity Groves. The event is free to attend.

Please come out to Chino Chinatown on Monday, May 28th and hear from guest speakers: P.J. Moton of Abounding Prosperity and Krista De La Rosa of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation. Both speakers will speak on LGBTQ individuals and access to healthcare.

Speakers will begin at 7:00PM. Please feel free to stay for dinner and continue to hang out after the program ends.

Complementary chips and salsa will be offered courtesy of Chino Chinatown and a portion of Equality Vodka sales will benefit the Dallas/Fort Worth HRC Federal Club.

P.J. Moton of Abounding Prosperity:

Born in Tuscaloosa, AL P.J. Moton, LMSW is a 2013 graduate of Washington University’s George Warren Brown School of Social Work in St. Louis, MO where he earned his Master of Social Work degree with a concentration in Children, Youth, and Families. PJ is also a 2011 graduate of Fisk University in Nashville, TN where he earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and Sociology.

It was also in Nashville that PJ became very active in the LGBT community. PJ began volunteering with Nashville’s Mpowerment program Young Brothers United throughout his matriculation at Fisk. While in graduate school PJ continued his work with non-profit organizations in a variety of different areas targeting underserved youth. PJ has designed programs in the areas of College Access, Community Mental Health, Community Mobilization and much more. With 7 strong years in the field of HIV/AIDS research, prevention, and care, specifically focusing on Black MSM, PJ has become recognized as a leader among the millennial generation of game changers with regards to the epidemic. PJ currently serves as Special Projects/Programs Manager for Abounding Prosperity, Inc. in Dallas, TX where he continues his work in program design, management, and research. PJ also serves as Development Director for Dallas Southern Pride, which is the official host of Dallas' Black LGBT pride celebrations.

Krista De La Rosa of AIDS Healthcare Foundation:

Krista De La Rosa is a 28 years old proud Transwoman living in Dallas, Tx. Krista has spent the last 2 years working as a Wellness Counselor at the AIDS Healthcare Foundation. She is a supporter of many community nonprofit organizations that promote mental and sexual health. Krista believes in building a stronger community for today, tomorrow and the future. Nothing she does is solely just for her, it’s about our community and the fight for equality. For over 11 years, Krista has been advocating for her community by working with troubled teens and serving the homeless.

Recently Krista was cast in a very moving documentary about Transgender individuals called "Transpose." This documentary travels and screens in different cities educating the community on what life is like for Transgender individuals and their loved ones. Krista knows what it feels like to want to fit in and be the popular one. She is here to help others feel loved and believes everyone deserves to be treated equally.
