On Saturday, two West Point male graduates married in a small ceremony in front of about 20 guests.

Daniel Lennox and Larry Choate III are the first male couple to marry at the U.S. Military Academy’s Cadet Chapel, though two lesbian couples wed there in 2012.

The state of New York legalized same-sex marriage on July 24, 2011, but it was not until the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” in September 2011 that gay and lesbian service members could serve openly.

Now, with the fall of section 3 of DOMA, all service members marriage are treated equally and the Department of Defense will recognize any same-sex marriage that is valid where it is celebrated, regardless of where a service member is stationed.
